Application Fee Deferral

Under Oregon University System (OUS) policy, we are unable to waive an application fee. However, we are able to defer an application fee if the applicant meets certain requirements. Application fees deferred under this provision become payable upon the student’s enrollment and receipt of financial aid funds. If a student does not complete the application process or does not enroll, the application fee is canceled.

Freshman applicants

To be eligible, an applicant should meet any of these family income and general program requirements:

  • Free or reduced school lunch program
  • TRIO-type college preparatory programs (e.g., Upward Bound, Talent Search, EOC, HEP)
  • Oregon or other U.S. public assistance program whether or not the student was ever actually a program participant
  • Eligible for College Board fee waiver

Transfer applicants

To be eligible, an applicant should meet any of these requirements:

  • Be a current participant in an Equal Opportunity Program (EOP), TRIO or other similar program at the college or university currently attending
  • Be in high need of financial aid
  • Be on Oregon or U.S. public assistance program (food stamps only, or food stamps, cash, and medical assistance)
  • Be a dislocated worker
  • Be authorized and certified for entrance or re-entrance into rehabilitation

Procedures

Online Application

  • Complete all sections of the online application
  • Click on the Complete Application button
  • Click on “Request Fee Deferral” button
    • Indicate on the form how you qualify for an application fee deferral
    • Read the Student Authorization statement and click on “Fee Deferral” button to indicate you agree to submit the OUS Fee Deferral form to complete your application and understand that we will not make an admission decision until this form is received.
  • Print the OUS Deferral Form
